Prompt Cards
5 Minute MFL displays Prompt Cards, either in a grid or one by one. Each card shows a prompt that could be, for example, a question, a discussion starter, or a more open language production stem.
At the bottom of a card, there might be zero, one or two buttons that toggle the display of answers, hints or possible responses.
This page describes the ways in which cards and pages can be configured to fit more specific targets for a lesson or homework. Once configured, page URLs can be bookmarked or shared, so pupils or other teachers can visit the tailored page at any point in the future.
Adding Cards
Click the Add Card button to add a new card to the grid.
The maximum number of cards is 12. The new card is chosen randomly but duplicate cards are never shown.
The Card Menu
The card menu icon, three dots stacked vertically, is in the top-right corner of the card.
Hovering over the menu icon will show the six available menu actions.
Each action is described below.
Refresh
Replaces the card with a new random card without duplicating any cards that are already shown in the grid. If the card type, tags or options have been specified, the new card will try to match those specifications.
View Solo / View Grid
Toggles the View Mode between Solo and Grid. In Solo Mode, the page shows one card at a time, with controls to navigate between cards.
Lock Type
Locks the Type of the card (e.g. Translate or Describe the Picture). After a page or card refresh, this card will continue to be of the specified type.
Cards whose type is locked show a padlock icon to the right of the title.
Lock Card
Locks the exact card you want in this position. After a page refresh, or revisiting the page from a link, this exact card will continue to be shown.
Locked cards show a white padlock in a red circle in place of the card menu. Click the padlock icon to unlock the card.
Edit
Lets you configure the card type, tags or translation direction.
Remove
Removes the card from the page.
Error Cards
From time to time you may see an error card. For example, if there are no cards that match a set of specified tags,
or the URL has been entered incorrectly.
Use the provided buttons to either edit the card or remove it from the page.
Full Screen
You can use the browser's own fullscreen mode, or click the fullscreen button at the top of the card grid.
